How do you create a customer experience strategy?
To create a customer experience strategy, define the experience you want customers to have, map their journey across touchpoints, collect feedback and data at each stage, prioritize the friction points that hurt retention most, give teams shared customer context and authority to fix issues, and track a small set of metrics such as CSAT, NPS, effort and churn.
Seven steps
- Set a CX vision. One sentence the whole company can repeat, such as “every issue solved in one conversation.”
- Know your customers. Segment by needs and value, not just demographics.
- Map the journey. List every touchpoint from discovery to renewal and note where customers get stuck.
- Listen continuously. Combine surveys, support tickets, reviews and product usage.
- Prioritize friction. Rank issues by how many customers they affect and their effect on churn or revenue.
- Equip teams. Give support, success, sales and product the same customer view, and the authority to act.
- Measure and iterate. Review CX metrics monthly and tie them to retention and revenue.

Where AI fits
AI agents can take friction out of the journey by resolving routine requests instantly, and AI analysis of tickets and calls can surface patterns faster than manual review. Use AI to remove effort, not to hide the way to a person.
