What is a knowledge graph?
A knowledge graph is a way of storing information as entities, such as customers, tickets, products and people, and the relationships between them, so software and AI can follow those connections to answer questions. It complements document search by capturing how facts relate, not just what text says.
Example
Customer Acme → has ticket #123 → linked to bug B-77 → owned by engineer Priya → fixed in release 4.2. An agent can answer "Is Acme's issue fixed?" by following the links.
Knowledge graph vs vector search
| Knowledge graph | Vector search | |
|---|---|---|
| Stores | Entities and relationships | Embeddings of text |
| Good at | Multi-hop, exact relationships | Finding similar text |
| Example question | "Which enterprise customers are hit by bug B-77?" | "Find docs about SSO errors" |
In enterprise AI
DevRev's Computer Memory is described as a patented, permission-aware knowledge graph that links structured records with unstructured content, kept current by AirSync.
